Default B&E Radio Theft

Last night some turd broke into my Cherokee and stole the aftermarket radio. Unlike the past times this turd punched a hole under the passenger door lock and forced the door to unlock. Turd also tried to steal Jeep and did normal turd damage to ignition lock and column lock. My problem now is how to repair the door. I am thinking about making a washer like reinforcement to harden the lock area and cover the whole. Also is there a remote radio that can be hidden and run by remote? Thoughts. Pictures are attached.

Damn, that sucks dude. I have had my XJ broken into a few times - got sick of it so I moved out of the city. More expensive than a car alarm though...

I have always wanted to do something like a marine remote-mount amplifier (headless head-unit basically).
Amazon Amazon

Stuff it either somewhere in the dash (maybe under the steering wheel), or under one of the seats. It would easily fit under the rear bench.

If you mount it in the dash, wiring it to the stock speaker wires would be easy.

EDIT:
They have models with built in AM/FM radio but only ever use my phone to play music so not worth the extra cost to me

That sucks man... I have not had my jeep broken into yet, knock on wood but people are the pits. I went one time to the junkyard i believe somewhere between Dallas and Fort worth and when i went back to my vehicle someone had stole the tail gate off my step dads truck.

I would suggest some type of theft system even if it is a cheap alarm.

Was thinking about some flash/bangs tied to the radio.

sorry to hear this man, the washer idea seems like a good idea tho the c-clip holding the lock inside the door tight will be harder to get on but sure worth a try.

Marc

edit: ive dealt with a column that was all messed up cause the jeep was stolen and found back before we bought it, the damage to your column housing seems fixable bit of a mission getting it off and on but doable with some patience and time. you will need a lock plate pulley and steering wheel pulley and then replace the housing.

Actually thinking about going keyless and closing key holes. Just not sure what to do with a dead battery and locked car.

Let me know if you figure out how to rig that up... DIY or kit, you couldn't build something like that fast enough to keep up with demand. lol
The world is full of dirtbags unfortunately.

Sorry that happened to yours, ... what a total dirtbag.

I have a nice double din conversion for a nav unit in mine...but it has it's own security. Anyone ever breaks in and steals it, it will never work again in any other vehicle. neener neener dirtbags of the world. ... well unless I can get that flash-bang conversion done beforehand

Get a "Protected by Smith & Wesson" or similar sticker.

Even better - MEAN IT!

Could easily leave one of those 12 high amp connectors within reach from under the engine bay - then just hook up jump leads or even to another battery. 12 "door popper" solenoids dont use much power

Back in the 90s this guy I knew had a BMW that had some factory system that used door poppers instead of rods to actuate the doors. Like, you pulled the handle and the poppers activated.

Anyway, so one day he left his lights on and the battery died. No way to get in the car. There was a probably 14 gauge wire with an alligator clip near the front grille. We had to connect that to 12V+ and then ground to somewhere on the car, and he could open the door.

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. It's sad that the world is full of degenerate POS's that have the audacity to violate other folks' property.

Just out of curiosity, where do you live that you're talking about "unlike past times"?? I've never had my vehicle broken into (even when I had my soft-top, lockless soft-door Wrangler), but even one time and I would be going on a rage fueled rampage, breaking kneecaps and aiming for center mass.

Maybe I live a sheltered life - the idea of people stealing car radios seems like a throwback to the 80's or something. (Knock on wood.)
