It is offset but is a spring over set up. With the gears and a locker already installed it would be worth it provided everything is in good condition and it is ready for a XJ.

I recently bought a D44 from an XJ. Mine looks like the shock mounts are further apart and the drums look a bit different then the one you are considering. I picked mine up for $200.00 dollars from a guy on Craigslist who was asking $300.00. It was complete drum to drum although I know it needs new brakes and axle seals do to it just sitting so long. It came with 3:54 stock gears / open carrier. I just ordered an Aussie Locker for it and the D30 up front today and can't wait to get them installed. The two Aussie lockers with shipping cost $502.00. Offer him less and see what he says!

Yea let us know what he says, it looks weird but I think it will work with some work. If it can fit see if he will take $400 and it would be a great deal with 4.88 and a locker plus install! Great deal IMO!
