AX-15 tranny wont go into gear

I could really use some expert advice here. While driving down the freeway, I noticed I couldn't shift from 4th to 5th. I'd pull out of 4th, and the shift lever just wouldn't move forward into 5th, or ANY gear for that matter. Eventually, I was able to get it back into a gear before rolling to a stop, and it shifted ok a few more times before finally giving out several miles down the road. It does not grind the gears, it just won't let me shift into any gear. The lever moves side to side just fine, but I cannot move the lever forward or back into any gear.

The clutch only has about 21k miles on it, so that shouldn't be the problem. I don't have the tools with me to drop the transmission, so I'd like to get as best of an idea as I can before taking it to a shop. I(and my dad, and others) originally thought it was the master and/or slave cylinder. They weren't leaking, but I read that the seals can go bad even if it doesn't appear to be leaking. So, I replaced the master and slave cylinder set as one piece. This solved nothing. I can't get it into any gear unless the engine is off.

Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this? I'll be tearing into it a bit more tomorrow, so I'm hoping its something not too expensive!

I appreciate any advice or knowledge given, Thank you!

hydraulics. try pumping the clutch before you shift

I don't know if it will fix the problem, but maybe you should try changing out the fluid???

Like I said, I replaced the entire hydraulic system, master cylinder and slave cylinder as a set that was pre bled. Its brand new and already bled.

Pumping the clutch does not help

Thank you guys

I didn't use any fluid, it came with fluid already in it, pre bled.

I wouldn't trust it, better to replace it with MT-90 fluid or equivalent. Those fluids rated GL5 have sulfur in it, which eats up brass syncros. Gl-3 and go-4 fluids doesn't have sulfur in it, making it safer to use on those ax15's. Harder to shift into gears might sound like there might be some wearing down on the syncros.

Doesn't hurt to change out the fluid for the peace of mind.

Are you talking about the tranny fluid? Not in the master cylinder

You did check master fluid level if it shifts with motor off sounds like it a clutch problem. External slave ?

this does not eliminate a faulty new part. the last master I replaced on a ls1/t56 car was bad out of the box, but not evident until disassembly.
