Any Known issues I should keep an eye out of or is the AX-15 bullet proof?

I wouldn't call it "bulletproof," but it's reasonably durable for the application (and a huge improvement over the BA-10!)

Are there any specific issues you're worried about? The biggest thing would be to keep it on a steady diet of GL-3 gear lube (you may use GL-5 if it specifically says it's "Safe for use with Yellow Metals" - GL-4 and GL-5 will dissolve the synchroniser rings, the only difference is the time it takes for it to do so. This is due to the added sulphur used as an EP lubricant in GL-4 and GL-5. Some performance/synthetic lubes use a different additive, which is not antagonistic to brass, bronze, or copper.)

I know this is kinda thread jacking, but are there any other gear oils that are known to be safe for the AX-15? I'd prefer a synthetic lube also.

That just sounds like a really bad idea unless run for a very short period of time as a transmission flush. I'd rather stick with the 75/90.

I take back that statement, I was looking around on Quadratech's website and they recommend the Mopar 10W30 engine oil for use in the AX5/15 transmission. huh.

It's an old cold-weather trick - I used to see 10W-30 run in the old Muncies, Saginaws, Fords, and Chrysler/New Process gearboxes. Engine oil is low-sulphur, so it's not antagonistic to yellow metals (like GL-4 and GL-5 in general.) Engine oil is generally safe to use for cold-weather operation in manual gearboxes (and some very recent gearboxes are actually spec'd for use with 10W-30 or 5W-30, and some even with automatic transmission fluid!)

I think both RedLine and Amsoil make GL-5 gear oils rated as safe for use with yellow metals.

I'm gonna go with Redline MT-90. It is safe for brass syncro's and a large number of ppl with TJs on Jeep Forum use it.
