Default What gear ratio would this be?

After being helped here with advice on swapping my front axle, and seeing some discussion as to how to determine one's gear ratio, I jacked up one rear wheel, marked the drive shaft and spun the wheel one complete turn. The result was nothing like what I was expecting. The shaft turned 1.75 times to one turn of the wheel.I tried both wheels and had the same results.I tried turning the wheel 10 times and the shaft turned 17.75 times.I attribute that extra quarter turn to my error, but maybe not. I used my cell phone video to eliminate the possibility of my losing count.
I was half expecting 3:55 ratio, but that would mean the shaft would turn 3.5 times or so I thought.
Thanks in advance for any help.

In order to this both Wheel have to be off the ground and they have to both spin the same amount. Since your only doing one wheel simply multiply by 2. Looking at those number looks like you have 3.55. There should be a identification strap on the differential that would indicate what was in there at the factory.

Or for an open rear and with one tire in the air make two tire rotations. For a l/s or locked rear and both tires in the air give them one turn.

If it's an open diff and you are only turning 1 wheel then yes that's a 3.55 ratio.

It has to be the left rear wheel or the right front to get a proper drive shaft count.

Never heard of that, why does it make a difference? The spider gears are the same on both sides.

You want to spin it on the static axle direct ring and pinion gear side.

Yes you are and it is absolutely fine my friend. lol

Check your count both ways. It shouldn't, but I have found it does with an open diff.
