AW4 Shifting problems
So I have done a ton a research on this topic and I'm still having issues. My tranny wants to launch in either 3 or 4th. Either way its not 1st. So I replaced the solenoids, fluid and filter. Did not change anything. I replaced the TPS. Still not working. I replaced the TCM. Nothing. I double checked the ground strap on the back of the head. I traced as much of the tranny wires as I could to check for shorts and burned off wires. I also checked fuses. I read that the NSS can relay info to the TCM so I replaced that for the heck of it and here is the kicker. Its a brand new transmission. The guy I bought it from left the records in the console, but I have no leg to stand on as far as warranty because I'm not the guy who had the work done. What am I missing? How often do solenoid wires short out?

My 96 XJ did the same thing last year. Would start out in third gear. Was a small 10 amp fuse in the power distribution box under the hood. Was'nt blown, just not making good contact. Pulled it out and cleaned it, tranny has been perfect since.

Well I checked for the fuse and did not find one. Mine is under the hood and I did what watertrucker did. It looked fine but I replaced it anyways. Are there any relays?

Ok so I'll drive it again tomorrow and check the new fuse, but I did some more reading tonight and I think I may have it nailed. I might try to replace that tomorrow and see what happens. Thinking its either the ISS or OSS or both. Only thing I have not tried replacing/testing yet.
