Default automatic shifter handle removal

kind of embarrased to ask, but never done it before. How do you remove the handle from the AW4 shifter?

This is NOT a joke. Do NOT put your face btween the shifter and roof when you pull. Don't have camera available so I can't show you the knuckle imprints in the roof of my Jeep.

shift trans into 1-2 get in the back seat and pulled it off that way. u can use some leg muscles this way. while jeep is off on level ground and ebarke firmly applied. obviously.
