Auto tranny low gear question
So we've got a 95 XJ, 4.0 with automatic. The shifter has positions for D, 3, and 2-1. Question: when shifting down to the 2-1 position, is there a way to force it into 1st and keep it there? Or does that position just restrict it to 1st and 2nd and shifts between the two as needed? The owners manual doesn't seem to answer this question.
Thanks

There are a few write ups on how to lock it in 1. Just look up 1st gear lock Jeep Cherokee xj if you really need to lock it so only 1 is used.
