Default Anyone here actually tried “The Cure” for sloppy steering?

This company called RuffStuff Specialties sells a $20 part called “The Cure” that supposedly fixes the classic loose or sloppy steering on XJs, CJs, YJs, and TJs. Has anyone here actually tried this thing and has anyone had any luck with it? The video is pretty convincing and there are a ton of positive reviews for the product on the RuffStuff site but I’m not sure if it’s legit. Is it too good to be true?

Thanks!

Those bushings are made for the over the knuckle upgrade many market that has a lot of tie rod roll due to a change in the basic Y design. If you haven't done the conversion, this won't help you

Sorry, I misspoke. This product is specifically designed for the factory setup. Here’s what they say on the website:

”Very similar to our product "The Cure". But specifically made to work with a factory Jeep steering set up in the Y-link or inverted T style steering position, using the stock tie rods.”

http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/R2008.html

Anyone had any luck with this on the factory steering setup?

Just on the inner tie rod.

is it just one required or would it be good to replace the boots on the tie rod ends?

This is to reduce rotation of the inner tie rod/drag link junction. I don't think you'll see any benefits of putting them on the outer drag link or outer tie rod end.

According to their website, you just need the one in the y-link. It's "not for use on the tie rod ends at the knuckle." Cruiser54, can you confirm your installation?

I just ordered one--I didn't realize they sold these for stock steering. I'm doing the ZJ tie rod upgrade soon and will install this at the same time and report back. Hopefully it will fit OK with the ZJ inner tie rod.

Just so nobody makes the same mistake I made... I ordered the wrong "The Cure" from RuffStuff.

If you have the ZJ tie rod upgrade, you need to order the larger original part, not the newer one made for stock XJ steering setups:

If anyone wants the one for the stock steering linkage for a reduced price, PM me and I'll sell you the one I mistakenly ordered.

I did a search for this post regarding "the cure" after receiving mine in the mail. If anyone is using one on a stock xj, I would like to hear your thoughts. Since the dust boot needs to be removed and there is no seal on the product, should I just grease the joint more often?

I have one on my 96 with a poly bushing on the trackbar. I think it helps.
