Any idea what a "Parts" Jeep is worth?
 

Wife had a co-worker ask if we were interested in 2 parts jeeps and to make an offer. They should both be 1996 Factory RHD Cherokee's like ours and the main one for sure is the same color as well. Main one hit a deer and was repaired, then hit a tree so guessing neither has a front end. Also no idea if either of them runs or if the motors/transmissions are good. I believe both are Factory Right hand drive. Sounds like the main one has a new set of Blizzaks on it as well as summer tires. Also no idea on the underside.

We are meeting them tonight at 4:30pm cst. I have never bough needed parts vehicles before so have no idea what they are worth. Hate to low ball and lose matching jeeps, but do not want to over pay for items that will live in a tarp. :(

Check if the fuel gauges work! A working fuel sender on a 96 isn't easy to come by...

RHD Wiper arms are also near non existent!!! Hoping for at least 1 good one on the 2. LOL

Try ebay.co.uk I don't know if they'll ship to the USA but there are some from Spain and Germany. You could probably get some from a breaker in England too but XJs are starting to get noticeably less common here.

We get a lot of parts Jeeps here due to vehicles that can no longer pass inspection due to frame rust. I've never seen one listed for more than $1000. They are usually in the $900 range. Most of them have complete glass, body panels, interior trim, etc. Running and shifting last time they drove (according to sellers). Just trying to give you additional pricing data (Northeast region).

It all depends on the condition. It sounds like he is trying to get rid of them, are they beyond any repair?

Even if they are beyond repair, you can probably strip a lot of RHD specific parts off of them. Depending how they look, maybe offer him 1200-1500 and see what he says. Chances are if he is a friend of yours he will not be offended by that kind of an offer. I've seen some Jeeps by me that are in poor shape listed for parts, for 200 bucks. Sometimes people just need to get rid of stuff.

Around here wrecking yards will give about $150 tops to tow away running or not. I wouldn't pay more than that myself. I am not paying extra for what they can get already to have junk removed from their property. Maybe I'm a bit biased because just had an inlaw wanting to sell me a lil jmmy gmc for the $300 she paid for it in running perfect condition, now the tranny is toast. She actually thinks I am getting a good deal, needs her head examined putting it politely.

Also around here no title and the wrecking yards wont touch it, scrap metal yards won't either. So if you strip it and no title you have to bury what's left. Thanks to your local methheads stealing and selling metal. They use to steal guard rails on bridges and roads for money.
