Another XJ Temp Thread.
1996 Jeep XJ, temperature seems stable at 210, well it just hovers above 210 for a few seconds then drops back down to 210, this happens either when driving with AC on or of the car is stationary for extended periods of time, from what I have read 210 is about the norm, but when I switch off the engine I hear gurgling sounds in the engine.
I just did a complete system flush and un-screwed the temp sender from the back of the head to burp the system, does the gurgling sound like I still have air in the system, I am not loosing any coolant and as previously said the temp seems to operating fine, if you think that I have air, would drilling a couple of holes in the thermostat clear it better than unscrewing the temp sender unit from the block, or is the gurgling sound normal? Thanks for any advice.. |
Sounds normal to me.. If its running at about 200-210, all is well.

Great thanks for the reply

If normal operating temp is 210, then wouldn't the thermostat be open all the time once it warms up, Is that normal? Just asking because I just replaced a thermostat because it was stuck open.

Mine runs about about half a centimeter below 210, but that is with the stock guage.
|
mine runs between 200-210 on an aftermarket guage.

Yea, I have been through this. I guess its normal. Mine will go just above 210 and then drop down after the fan kicks on. Its fine I guess. I do realize when I drive is steadily at 50mph it stays right at 210 no problem.

Sounds normal, however i hardwired my ac fan( the black electric one) so that when it is hot or i am wheel'n i can turn it on for some extra flow.
