Default Another way to handle the rear shock bolts... if you have a wire feed welder

This worked for me today, real simple. After performing this method, the remains of the snapped bolt spun out as if they were threaded in by hand. Simple simple stuff.

When you shear a bolt off up there, grab a 5/16-18 nut from the hardware store. Thread it on what's left, leaving a small gap between the nut and the frame. No worries if it's only attached by just a single thread.

Grab your WD40 and your wire feed welder. Crank it up and give it a few spots, fill up the nut with weld.

Once it's done, grab your WD40 and soak the new bolt youve just made, making sure to get it between the frame and the nut.

It should contract with such vigor that it breaks all the rust, and sucks the penetrating fluid right in.

Just be careful, the WD40 will ignite. Just keep a good fire extinguisher handy.

You should now be able to remove the remains of the bolt without any issue, salvaging the tack welded nut in the process.
