Another Transfer case ?
 

I have spent a good amount of time searching on here and NAXJA to answer this question. Would a transfer case that is off a vacuum disco work on a newer non vacuum disco XJ? This is concerning a NP231 case on my XJ and the donor TC is also.

My Rig is:
1994 4.0 6, with the AX-15, Tow package, NP 231, And 3.55 or 3.73 gearing(can't remember for sure which)

Donor Rig:
Unknown other then it is for sure a NP231 with the Vacuum actuator.

My plans was to put a SYE on the donor TC so that it would be quicker and easier for me to just swap the TC's. And this would also leave me with a spare TC for really really cheap----Thanks XJ-Arnie for that find!! Thanks in advance for the help. I just dont want to do the work on this TC for nothing.

99% sure the case wont work as the vac rigs run the pugout(sp) trans and not the AW4 or AX15 also they are 21 spline input not 23. find a case from a 91+

Prob have different spline counts but inputs can be swapped pretty easily. Your 4wd light in the dash won't work because it works off a switch in the t-case on yours and a vacuum switch on the firewall on the older t-cases.

Thanks for the quick replies. guess ill just have to do the SYE install on mine, because i doubt Ill find another TC for the price i got this 1 for. Now it's a matter of finding the day or two to do the SYE install.

just counted the vacuum 1 spline is a 21. so then my AX-15 is a 23? and this is a no go for sure without the input being switched.
