So I just noticed this the other day after owning my 1991 jeep cherokee 4.0L for a few days. When it's running, either cold or hot the aux fan keeps kicking in for a minute... then shuts off and repeats.

Nothing appears to be over heating, the engine doesn't feel hot and the gauge isn't read hot.

Just curious if this is a common problem, with a common solution before I go digging around.

Thanks.

not a concern, normal operation. change your heat a/c dial/switch over to the floor mode and this will stop the fan from cutting in and out. When you choose either full defrost or defrost/floor, for heating or cooling, the a/c compressor will cycle, which in turn, turns the fan on and off. check this out by having the hood open and watch the fan cycle with the a/c.

normal operation.
