AMC 20 axle?

Anyone have any knowledge of the AMC 20 axle out of the Comanche? Supposedly this is "different" from the standard weak AMC 20, and has better, stronger axles.

I have axcess to one with 4.10 gears and probably an LSD, to replace 3.07/D35 in a '93 XJ 5-speed.

Thanks

no idea but that is going ot be a hell of an upgrade in performance.

don't the commanche rear axles mount differently? like the leaf seats are on the bottom instead of the top or something?

Comanche's were spring under, so it will require relocated perches and shock mounts, and probably some driveshaft modification. It is a beefy looking axle and not the same as used on CJ's.

ETA: Some more Google research has shown that it is a much better axle than the CJ version. I said it "may" have an LSD because both wheels will turn occasionally in the same direction, but not consistently. They do not turn in opposite direction, so maybe the LSD is worn out? Brakes are extremely bigger than D35.

Never seen an AMC 20 in an MJ. They came with the 35 and 44. The weak link of the 20 was the 2 piece axles. They did come in Waggys but are 6 lug.
