Hi guys,

I have a 92 cherokee briarwood and I am replacing the alternator. This is my first attempt at doing of the these but everything has gone pretty smoothly so far. All bolts are disconnected, my battery and battery tray are removed, and the belt is off the alternator.

My PROBLEM: I can't figure out the angle where the alternator will come out. Does it come out from the top or the bottom? Does anything else have to be removed in order to have enough room to get it out? I have been messing with it for a while now trying to get it out and no luck.

Out the bottom and it helps to loosen the 3-4 bracket bolts along with removing the 2 bolts that hold the alternator.

 

yup, out the bottom.

if you remove the L bracket, the damn thing will practically fall out onto your face.

you can still remove it leaving the bracket on, just have to twist and turn it to fit out through the bottom. it can be a pain, but will come right out after messing with it.
