On my way into work today the check guages light came on and the battery guage was at zero while I was at a stop light. When the light turned and I got on the gas everything went back to normal and no problem since then. Do you think my alternator is going bad, any and all help appreciated.

Sounds like it. Pull it off and have it tested

Weak battery, slipping belt, bad alternator, bad battery cable connections...

When alternators go, they go. You should be able to have it tested at autozone or oriely, and I think the new thing is that you don't have to take it out.

Sounds to me like a cable/terminal head. Or possibly your belt slipped, but that's a rarity on serpintine belts.

I'd get tested by driving it in.
If they find nothing, clean the terminal heads, ground connections to the frame, and think about cutting an inch off your battery wires, restripping them and reconnecting them.
That'll depend on the type of terminal connections you have tho.

There is a writeup posted here on testing the primary electrical - I know it's up, because I posted it. It's a simple driveway procedure that will give you more useful results than a parts house bench ever could.

No, I didn't keep a link to it, but it's easy enough to find. The most advanced piece of equipment you need is a DMM.
