Alarm
Heres the deal. I got this jeep for $200. When i got it the 'alarm' as im going to call it never went off.
Now, when i disconnect the battery for more then a day or so the alarm goes off and it will start for around 1 second then die. while flashing tail lights blinkers and headlights. Kills the battery in less then 10 minutes while its going off. Ive read posts that say put the key in the trunk and lock/unlock it. I dont have a key for a trunk. i bought the damn thing with the ignition key and thats it, i replaced door lock cylinders but they dont do a thing to turn it off. tl;dr: Basically, where the hell is the alarm located in cherokees? 1992 4.0 4wd AW4 NP242. No horn hooked up/installed/cant find it. kind of in a rage right now so post if you need some more info. (i leave for 3+ months at a time so i dont want my brother going to start it and him just killing the battery 40 times and finding it completely dead when i get back) |
Sorry for the double post.
Apparently some quick googling when not mad helps. With a 92 limited (it seems like its all 92's) Theres a green/white wire in the drivers kickpanel you can ground out on the body and it seems to disable the alarm. Going to try this tomorrow and post results. |
On my '91, the factory alarm is disabled when and only when I manually unlock the passenger side door. I'm not sure if you tried that or not already.

Well since theres like 8 different 'Green/White' wires under the kickpanel i tore apart my door panel and found this hanging there:
https://i35.tinypic.com/154y4jl.jpg Thats suppost to go on the end of the door lock somehow (i cant really see to get it on the back of it) But if you turn it around back and forth a few times with a flathead screwdriver or your fingers it kills the alarm and you can then start your jeep. Kind of annoying but it works. If anyone else has a problem like this PM me and ill try and help out |
