Air Filter Suggestions

I need to replace the air filter for my '89 Limited 4.0 which. I have the stock air box so I was wondering which air filter I should get. Like brand, dry or oiled, and metal mesh or not.

Wix. They are the best.

Do they supply multiple variants of air filters? Like which type of air filter (that fits the stock air box) do you suggest?

Just ask for the stock replacement Wix filter.

Ok. And I've heard about drilling holes into the bottom of the Airbox? What's the point of that?

People are worried the bottom of the airbox will fill with water. Even if it does it will pour out the inlet hole long before it gets high enough to worry about.

I've only got one filter wet in my life. On a xj I used to own, I had the stock filter and I was stuck door deep in a mud hole. I had lockers so both front wheels turned and I guess I flung enough wet mud for my intake to suck up. Jeep still ran great but the next day I checked it and it was soaked. So you really don't need to drill holes unless you plan on being stuck like I was

Oh ok. Well I'm not going to be water fording anytime soon. I was just wondering if it was for more air to get in but still be filtered because the hole(s) are under the filter.
