Aftermarket diffcover and fluid capacity
 

I just got myself a new solid diff cover for my d30. I always heard that since the fill hole is up higher you are able to put more lube in therefor getting better lube to yur gears. It even says it on the manufacturers website. So I fill my diff to just under the fill hole on my solid cover drove around a bit and now my driver side axle seal is leaking. So I took some out and filled it to about stock capacity and it's still leaking. Did I blow that seal with the extra fluid or what? Any insight plz!

I dont think it blew your seal. The D30 is a dry tube axle and once fluid escapes past the inner seals you'll have some residual fluid coming out for a bit.

In my opinion the higher fill plugs on diff covers are to increase capacity on an axle assemly that has had signifigant change to the pinion angle. As it's rotated up the pinion oil slinger is further from the fluid "pool" if you will. This is to ensure oiling to the pinion bearings.

I honestly think you'll be fine.

Yeah I think you might be right because I looked at it again tonight and it not even dripping anymore. I think it took a while for it to drip out of the tube because it was so cold and the diff lube was super thick. Thanks
