Adding 2 inchs

Can i add on some 2" coil spacers and 2" block lift and some teraflex revolver shackles to a 6.5 RC lift and still use the shocks that came with the lift?

bsflipfrontflip 09-29-2009 09:39 PM

anyone?

I wouldn't use the same shocks.

ktmracer419 09-30-2009 09:51 AM

you will have many more issues than just shocks

not to mention that will be an extrememly unstable setup

tell us EVERYTHING about what is under your rig, and ill help steer ya in the right direction as to what you need.

steering?control arms?driveline mods? etc

I have the RC 6.5 and half lift kit and the sye with the rear cv ds. I know i am going to need new Steering and brake lines and thats something i am already going to do. I was thinking about a long arm upgrade and doing the teraflex revolving shackles. But besides the lift kit and sye its basically stock

your rear driveline should be alright

but you may have issues with your front driveshaft, might need a custom high angle, or you could cut and turn your knuckles on your front axle to get a better pinion angle while retaining acceptable caster.

steering will need to be addressed as you know, IMO a highsteer setup or at the minimum a crossover type steering.

yea you pretty much NEED longarms, shortarms at 8-9" will be right around a 45* angle (no good)

longer brake hoses as you know

and if you want the most out of your suspension, the right length shocks are a must, especially if you want to take advantage of those revolving whacky shackles.

and what is the purpose of this rig?

what size tires?

what axles?

bsflipfrontflip 09-30-2009 09:45 PM

the purpose is to keep up with my buddys competition yj that quadratec built the thing has like 50000 in its crazy. The rear is the 8.25 27 i am going to swap everything in it and convert over to a 29 and the front is a 30 but i would like to go up to a 44 or do a super 30 set up and hi steer knuckles but for right now its all stock

competition as in rock crawling?

a 9" lift xj with revolvers on stock width axles won't come close

you will have lots of "show" flex, but too much flex can hurt you offroad, especially on such a narrow setup.

you will be better off keeping it lower and more stable

yeah its competition rock crawler. Really i always thought that more flex was better? i sometimes flex out and cant get traction to my drive wheels would i be better off just going with lockers

lift doesn't = flex

a properly setup suspension= flex.

But flex is one of the lesser points to be worried about when building a suspension imo. I am more concerned about stability and weight distribution, which help when off camber and on hill climbs/descents.

any rig will benefit from lockers

a rig that is built to play on the same trails as a competition built rig needs lockers.

i lift tire all the time, but rarely lose traction.

4" and 35's
