I just bought a 97 Jeep Country edition 4x4, 4.0 6 cyl. When you hit the accelerator pedal it revs up before finally going. Once the jeep gets going it shifts fine...i was told it may be a MAP sensor...is this true? Could it be the kickdown cable? thanks for any help by the way, it has 250,000 miles, no check engine light....

 

Try starting in 1-2 instead of 3 or D and see if it makes a difference.
