AC making a whining noise?

AC making a whining noise?
I hope someone can help me with this weird noise coming from my ac, whenever i put the defroster on the ac pulley starts to make a whining/grinding noise, and when i turn defrost off it stops. it only does this when i do the defrost. anyone have any ideas? thanks.
