One of the faults I got when I checked was for the electric cooling fan relay. I bought one and checked to see where it is located. Everything I could find searching under the 2001 Cherokee sport said it was under the passenger side headlight. It showed people cutting the material under the light to get to it. I dug in and removed the headlight. This looks totally different than the posts and instructions I saw. I can pretty much see everything down there and it is not there as far as I can see. I was ready to pull the battery and it's mount and go in that way when I decided to look in the fuse box. There is a relay there! Also a fuse. Did they redesign for 2001 and not tell anybody? Help me Obie-Wan Kenobe!

 

Well, that would be the one.
As far as I know, its always been in the PDC, at least for the 97-01.

 

Sorry but I am new to the abbreviations here. What is PDC. Passenger .....
I returned the relay that was for the location behind the headlight and got a new replacement for the one in the box. I had reset it a few days ago so it was not showing a fault but when I replaced the relay the CEL came on and would not go away even though the reader I had said there were no faults. I cleared them anyway and restarted the engine but the CEL stayed on. I put the old one back in and cleared the fault showing and it went out. Confusing.
