Ok so it has been a few times this has happened but if i turn my ac on first thing in the morning or after a few hours of being shut off i hear a very loud thud and you can feel it. What is making this terrifying noise lol.

Where is the thud generally coming from? Pop the hood while someone selects the ac. Just for fun how are your motor mounts? How many bolts do you have holding the compressor down?

Have you added refrigerant recently? I've see where if the AC is a bit overcharged you can get what sounds something like a water-hammer sound when it first starts up.
