AC clutch problem, HELP please
2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L. It still has the sanden compressor. My ac clutch/pulley bearing is shot! I want to just replace this for the time being...the compressor still seems good. Anyway, as im sure many are familiar, i took the center nut off from the front of the compressor shaft. I dont know how to remove the clutch. The three holes on the clutch, that surround the nut, arent threaded to hook up a puller. Im a bit stumped on this, anyone have this problem before? Any luck or advice on removing it?

The clutch plate should pull off easily with your fingers after you have the center nut off. Then you need one of these to get the main pulley off.
http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece...set-40965.html Once you get the Pulley off, you will need a press to get the bearing out of the pulley, after grinding off the multiple small peens holding it in place. Then press the new bearing in.. |
