ABS questions
so i typed ABS into the search and it said there were no matches. I know i have ABS on my 1999 cherokee 4x4 but is it front or rear? my ABS light came on today and went off when i started the jeep again. then later it did it again. Any ideas?

Front and rear. You have tone rings on the axles. They look like a sprocket. If you get a bunch of gunk in them it will sometimes pop up the light or if a sensor wire is bad.

to clean the tone ring pull the axle ends out and spray it down , that very rarely throws the light, its usually rust under the sensor itself, a bad sensor or sometimes wheel bearings, the sensor will be mounted to the knuckle assembley

If you swap the rear all it will do is disable the ABS and make the dash light come on. If you swap the front that is where problems start like brake pulsing. I went to 1 tons and just disabled the ABS on mine.
