About to Replace 01 Head. Anything Else While Im in there?
Like I was saying, Im about to redo my 01 cylinder head with a clearwater head. Im already planning on replacing the thermostat. It only has 103k miles on it. Should I replace anything else while I have the head off?

The CPS might be easier to get to from the top with everything off, at least it looked that way to me. I had just replaced mine a few months before I replaced the head. Wish I would have done them together, because the CPS is a real PITA to get to from underneath.

New head bolts wouldn't hurt. If you get to cleaning the intake with fluid, its a good idea to remove the tps and iac first. Ask me how I know.

Since you'll be into the cooling system, I'd check the water pump. They tend to get ignored on chain driven engines because you don't automatically change them when you're doing the cam belt every XXk miles. (IME, anyway).
And then when you've got the serp belt off, check all the pulleys/alt/aircon/Steering pump for play and smooth running. That's probably a bit egg-sucky but I always forget something! |
