Default 99 XJ Tailpipe Hanger

Hey all. Got a 99 XJ just replaced the whole exhaust system manifold back and ran into one little snag. The tailpipe hanger on the aftermarket tailpipe doesn't match the OEM hanger on the body. I see almost all of the aftermarket tailpipes have a hanger on them like the top pic but the OEM pipe does not and is held on with the hanger in the below pic and a 2"clamp. Does anyone know of an aftermarket bushing style hanger I can use to match the tailpipe? If not I guess I'll have to saw it off because it's in the way of the OE hanger.

On my '00 you grind off the rear hanger off the tailpipe. They put it on for, I believe, to also use for '96 down. Buy a muffler clamp. 2 1/4". I hope you have the nutstrip on the passenger side inside the uni-body. If you do but don't have bolts I believe them to be M12x1.75x40

I kinda figured I'd have to grind it off. My OE hanger rusted and broke so I was hoping to find something different that utilizes the hanger that comes on the pipe. The nuts that hold the strap on the metal bracket must be made of led because they stripped with barley any pressure at all. Now I have to get that big honkin bolt off that holds the hitch on so I can replace the whole thing like you did in the picture here

Just so you know that is not mine. I saved that picture off the internet so when I replaced mine I would know how the hanger is supposed to look. When you buy a new hanger it is not put together. At least mine from Napa was not. You have to bolt the rubber piece to the metal plate.

Yeah, that's no big deal. I wanted to just do the rubber piece. But like I said the nuts stripped

I bet it will! Do you know the nut size while you're being so helpful?

I went outside and put a wrench to it. 12mm was the best fit but still not good IMO. Seemed a little big. Wondering if the weather has started to take its toll on the hanger. Did the exhaust about a year ago. 11mm and 7/16" were to small and 1/2" was to big. Plus I have no idea what the pitch is. Sorry.

That's probably why they stripped. I'll figure something out. Thanks for all the help!
