Default 99 xj sport help identifying port

I recently replaced the heating core in my 99 xj sport. When connecting the steering column. I noticed two ports halfway down the column. One went into the ignition. I can't figure out where the other goes.

I don't think that's the OBDII connector.

Thank you for the quick help. It took a long time to take out the dash and I didn't want to be missing a wire!

I could be mistaken, been a few years since I plugged my reader into it and have forgot the exact connector but that is about where it should be on my 99 for it.

OBDII connectors are larger, with 8 pins top and bottom, and have angled sides.

Not sure what that plug is for, but not OBDII.

I looked around some more online. Since it is taped down and looks like it was taped by the factory my guess is it would plug in behind the steering wheel, but isn't needed in my jeep.

It does look factory, or a very clean aftermarket install. Alarm? Cruise control? Another factory option that you may not have? Not sure really.

I took the time this morning to do what I should have yesterday and looked at the Scan Gauge manual for OBDII is the 8 pin and I stand corrected.

Thanks for pointing that out and me making a wrong statement I had forgotten the number of pins, was going on the location of the connector.
