'99 wiring issues (door locks, windows, mirrors)

I have power windows, mirrors and locks in my '99. Also have the starter lock/keyless entry (which I HATE). Anyway.....

This past winter I put the passenger window down and it died, instantly. I went half way down and I went to bring it back up and nothing. Thats what I get for screwing around with the old lady when its -30 out. So anyway, I took the panel off and couldnt see any real issues. I had the worm drive come loose a few years back and I fixed that, but there was nothing wrong that I could see. I put the glass up and put a clamp on the track for the time being (remember, it was NEGATIVE 30).

So anyway, fast forward to about 6-8 weeks ago and my drivers side door speaker starts cutting out, off and on when it feels like it. Funny thing was, if I cranked the radio, it would kick on and I could turn it down and it was fine. A couple weeks back it would all of the sudden go SUPER LOUD humming and buzzing. So last week I take the panel off and wiggle the wires and it comes in and out. Loose connection, right? Well, after I get it "fixed", I put the panel back on, etc., and the windows wont work. I cant get any windows down or up from the master control. So, screw it. I dont have time to mess with it so I leave it.

I check to see if the passenger side door lock works and sure enough, it will lock the driver side and the rest. Hmmm..

So the other day I take off the drivers panel and the inside panel under the dash and start messing around. Cant figure out anything and everything looks fine. Im not a wiring guru but there are no obvious problems, i.e., broken/disconnected wires, etc. So after a few hours of messing around, looking at my Haynes manual, etc., I put the panel back on and say screw it again. Ive got to redo my floor pan in a few weeks, Ill tear it all apart then.

Anyway, I put it all together and now not only will the drivers door not work at all (locks, windows, mirrors, speaker) but the passenger side wont lock the drivers side. Odd enough though, keyless entry still works on the drivers door fine.

Anybody out there have any experience, recommendations, ideas, etc.? Im kind of lost when it comes to this stuff. I mean, I know how to wire, follow wires, etc., but Im lost if there arent any visible problems. Appreciate it.

As simple as it sounds, pop the driver side door panel off and see if the wiring harnesses are loose or popped off. Mine did that. Could put a tiny bit of that electrical grease on each prong too just to ensure connection. Mind works great now.

I did mess with stuff a bit behind that panel but didnt see anything noticeably loose. Ill have to check again when its not pouring out.

Any luck so far?

Oh yeah, all fixed. Pulled the boot up and low and behold all the wires were busted. Well, out of the 20 in the door there were like 12 broken. Someone sent me a PM saying they had the exact same thing happen, check the boot.

Odd thing is, the wire was wired TIGHT in there. They took all the extra, folded it over behind the drivers kick panel and then zip-tied it there. I dont know why they did it so tight like that, but from opening the door for 12 years they had enough. I "fixed" it for the time being, but Im wanting to pick up all the same color-coded wire and re-wire everything so its factory looking.

Anyway, found the problem, thats what it was.
