Question 99 jeep cherokee, 4.0L, 5-speed, 2-door, 2WD

I have a quick question for someone who knows about jeep cherokee. It is a 4-cylinder, 5-speed, 2WD. Nothing fancy. Not a Grand model, just a plain cherokee.
When my fuel gets below half a tank it acts jumpy before I shift into a gear. When my tank is full, it occasionally jumps before I shift gears. I recently discovered that my jeep does not have a fuel filter, therefore I'm thinking it is related to my fuel tank. My dad put some STP (black bottle) in the tank and filled it up and it made it stop for about two weeks. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if they know what it could be.

You should have a filter on it. But it is more like a screen and it is inside the tank on the fuel pump assembly. Your problem can be a number of things. The first place to start would be to take it to any parts store and have it checked for codes. Even if you don't have a CEL you can still have some stored codes.

By jumpy you mean missing? The only way mine jumps if I going slow like walking speed slow and don't press the clutch for traffic or when I don't feel the need to stop completely. As for the filter newer models came without fuel filters , but as above it has a screen to filter so to speak. Almost like a strainer sock like the older ones do.

Not a problem, That's what we are all here for.
BTW, Did you get it taken care of? If so what was it?
