99 Hesitation

This never happens on a cold start. It does occasionally when warm and only when I first start, never after I have been driving. When I attempt to drive it wants to just idle. When I try to excelerate it hesitates. I can hold steady throttle and this smooths out after about a block. I can give it more throttle and it sputters and then clears zoom. Or, I can come to a complete stop and it will try to stall like attempting stop a standard without using the clutch and then it runs fine. Once this has cleared it does not do it again.
Does this sound familiar? Thanks

This sounds like a classic symptom of bad Throttle Position Sensor and possibly a dirty Idle Air Control valve. Do a search on here for cleaning the TPS and IAC, they get caked with gunk that impedes their function. The TPS provides a reading to the computer of how much the throttle is open (actuated by the accelerator pedal) to determine how much fuel to use, and the IAC is what lets enough air in to keep the engine running when your foot is off the pedal.

You can get results from this forum only via Google if you add "site:cherokeeforum.com" to a search. Good luck!
