Default 99 cherokee mystery electrical problem

my 99 Cherokee is acting wonky! while driving down the freeway, the instrument panel, speedometer, tac, gas gauge went dead. briefly came back while driving then dead again. As I stopped at a light it began to struggle to stay running. luckily I got it home before it died. turn key and nothing. I left it be overnight. Turned key the next morning and it turned over. took it to autozone had battery, altenator and starter checked, all good. I tried to drive it to work and it died at stop light!

Remove all your ground connections (engine block, starter, alternator, inner fender near battery), clean with degreaser, use sand paper or crocus cloth to clean down to bright bare metal, coat both sides with dielectric grease, and retigthen.

After that, check for ANY loose connections. Clean with electrical parts cleaner, re-coat with dielectric grease and re-establish.

Check all these before assuming it's the ECM

Also...and i'm just guessing here...i've read here on this firum of members having problems with ....ummm, not sure, I think ignition switches. But, not behind the key, i think more towards the bottom of the column. Some said were poor connections, or switch or connector had started to melt.

Start it up. Run it in park. Put on a rubber, leather, or cotton glove. Start wiggling harnesses and connections in the bay till it shuts.off. Mine had a worn wiring harness across the top of the firewall. Little wiggle and it shuts down. No doubt something is poorly connected or wire broken. As always... refresh your grounds.
