Exclamation 99 Cherokee Driver Seat Options

So the driver's seat in my 99 Cherokee broke on me. It broke where the plastic of the seat mounts to the slider frame. The plastic just broke. So now I need a new seat.

What year make and model seats will fit in my jeep?

My seat frame also broke. Too much use after 12 years, made mine break on the drivers side of the frame where it mounted to the slider. After much search, I found that I wasn't able to find a drivers seat as they were the most common one to break. Drivers seat gets the most use. I ended up getting a new seat. Below is the link to the seat I got. It's pricy, but it's my daily driver and the only car I've got now. The instructions leave much to be desired, in fact if you go this route, I took pictures of how the seat should look when mounting. If you do a search, put in seat swap and check for the user nameno rdplz. He has a fantastic write up on a swap he did; grand cherokee seats into his xj.

I love responses like this. No asking like I did is the easiest way to do it, then I don't even have to look.

I found out this if it helps anyone else:

I've been wondering and wondering and I found this link
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthrea...#post244036436

It goes over putting 2008 WK(Grand Cherokee) seats in an XJ. In my recent research I found out this

ZJ('93-'98) seats fit in 96+XJ's('96 right?) - Pre '96 with a little fab and a hammer.

WJ('99-'04) seats fit in ZJ

and WK('05-'10) will fit in a WJ

What about the back 40/60 seat? Heres WJ seats in a '96 XJ
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/w...talled-353084/

From what I can tell they all seem to be interchangable relatively easily. This is good news!

I'll keep you posted on the 07 patriot seats I'm putting in. Still waiting on them, shipping got delayed(my fault) and then the 4th happened...

From this thread: https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/40-60-seats-51141/

So it looks like most Grand Cherokee seats will fit if I use my frame rails.

Thanks for this.

Here is the link that he was talking about:

Looks like it is as easy as changing the frame rails over.

That's it. Since the drivers seat in the xj is usually the first to break, I didn't have any luck. Plenty of passenger seats, but since the cargo room is poor, I chose to leave the passenger seat out for more room. The back seat in my xj are the most uncomfortable seats I've ever sat in. I leave them in the down position to give me a little more cargo room. This way I never have to worry about feeling bad not picking up hitchhikers. Have the spare tire bungee corded on top, but the drag it creates detracts from gas mileage to where I notice it quite a bit. With the tire on top, the roof sags some. Hopefully this won't be permanent when I put the tire back inside.
