98 XJ question

Do all of these engines have a $hit-ton of power?

If I'm rolling at like 25mph. & put the pedal to the floor, the AW4 downshifts & the truck launches into hyper-drive.

The speed triples in like 1.4 seconds. It's like I suddenly sprouted two extra cylinders.

I keep looking under the hood, but it's just a straight six.:dunno::bow::grin:

What these engines have is torque and plenty of it. When A.M.C. designed these engines (the 256 and the 232 )back in the sixties they scaled down a small truck engine. The result is tons of low end torque.
