98 Factory Fog Light Switch Access
My new to me 99 xj cherokee factory fog lights are not working. I have checked the fuse, relay no blown fuse, swaped relays no change. No power at the bulbs. The factory fog light swich indicator light never comes on. How do I gain access to the wiring on the back of the switch to jump the wires and verify if the switch is working. The Haynes Manual I have dosent seem to cover this. It does talk about removing the dash. I really dont want to do that for this minor problem. Thanks.

Thanks looks like when the sun goes down and the garage cools off I will try to remove the trim piece around the radio, climate controls and switches. I had pulled and squeezed on it a little, got some movement out of it but was afraid I was going to snap a tab off or worse. Thanks again.

Ok the trim piece came off easy enough. The switch came out easy enough. The contacts were corroded and after a cleaning and reasembly the white light indicating it is the fog light switch now works it didnt before. The fog light relay under the hood now clicks like it should when it is removed and installed it didnt do this before. But the lights still dont work. I noticed one of the fog lights had corrosion around the socket maybe I have now blown a fuse. I believe I'm getting closer. My manual doesnt say which fuse is the fog lights so I had checked them all. Guess I go through them again. Thanks for everyones input.

Is there an over-ride that keeps you from running the fog lamps and the high beams at the same time?
I know GM's > 2k are like that, but I don't know about MOPAR built Jeeps.

pretty much every vehicle is required to have the fogs wired to turn off with the high beams on, some stupid vehicle code thing the feds thought would be a good idea

Question regarding overheating indicator light...any body found an LED replacement for this indicator light? I figure it has much less heat and might solve this issue of overheating the switch itself.
