Default 98 batt?,,alt?? reg??

always starts , kinda slow. volts on dvm b4 crank, 12.0
dash meter goes to 12, then to zero. dvm on batt reads 12v then slowly goes up to 14.
this jeep not driven much, around property as a work horse doing yard work. i try to always drive/run it till fully hot.

check batt water? doing that after race.
seems to not get a good charge, might put a charger on it .

?

Check all the terminals, cables, and connectors first. If the Jeep doesn't get used often chances are you've got a corroded or loose connection or the battery's shot

had to reset to open salad?
i start it every other day and heat it while driving the property?.
note the batt reads 12 v b 4 starting and it cranks and runs.
dvm never under 12v, goes up to 14 in a few min. but dash meter drops all the way down, then climbs up slow.

Ah, you said "not driven much" I assumed once every couple weeks.

I'd still do the same checks though!

I would lean towards the battery being on its way out. 12 volts and 12.6 don't seem like much, but it is. 12.6 should be the resting voltage. The dash gauge is not accurate on my jeep either.

actually the dash meters i find accurate. they tell the truth!
my "good" 2000 meter always goes up to 14 right now, the 98 often starts low and climbs.
this just started a few weeks ago.
ill pull batt and have it checked.

I've had intermittent failures on an alternator. The car started fine but eventually voltage would drop as the engine heated up, had to restart the engine at stop lights to get the voltage back to normal. the alternator tested fine at o'reillys but i decided to just install a new alternator and it fixed the problem. Also the lowest price alternator at parts stores tend to be crap, they might come with lifetime warranties but the chances of failure are very high.
