hey guys i have a 97 xj 4.0. i drove it the other day and then let it sit for 2 days. well i went out this morning to go start it and all it does is crank and crank. i have to put the lights on before i can start the car, it has some weird alarm but its never been a problem before. anyways my battery is good, starter seems to be engaging and the fuel pumps kicking on. i tried to start it in park and neutral and still nothing. went under the dash and disconnected the ground for the alarm and then it really did nothing. im stuck.

Probably a safe place to start. Is it getting spark? Is the CEL on?

If you use search, there's a couple articles on how to check the CPS with a VOM meter. Probably better to test things and then replace rather than just start throwing parts at it.
