‘97 + window motor in pre ‘97?

‘97 + window motor in pre ‘97?
can this be done? I’ve been looking and looking for a replacement driver rear motor for an ‘89. I have 3 good working driver tears out of the ‘97 +. Wondering if anyone has just tried to make these work. I searched the forum and really couldn’t find this. Thanks in advance.
