Default '97 Power locks activating themselves on and of and on and off and...

Well, isn't that special!

My locks are locking and unlocking over and over and over. Killed my battery. I pulled the fuse (#15 on the inside fuse panel) and will leave the charger on overnight, so I'm back to being functional, but now to fix the root cause.

This last week a few times the rear hatch lock has done this a few times, but always quit on its own. That leads me to think the problem is probably there. I'll start by checking the wiring in the boot, but just in case...

Is there any known issue I should look for? Is this One Of Those Common Things that happens and already has a known cause and cure?

I just hate reinventing the wheel!

check for broken wires in the door jams--I cut a wire in my passenger door and it made my rear hatch lock go nuts--light blue wire, there are two, one with a red stripe and one with a black stripe. I don't remember which one I cut that made the lock go crazy.

Thanks for the tip! I wouldn't have thought of the passenger door. Front?

I really need to get a service manual for this beast....

yes passenger door front--it was a light blue wire with a red stripe. That wire goes to the passenger door lock switch. Check for breaks in it. Most obvious spot is in the door jam. Also as info the relays that control the door locks are in the passenger door lock control......like I said, my rear hatch lock went nuts when I cut that light blue wire with the red strip in the door jam.
