97+ Overhead Console Map Lights
So, I need to change the bulb in one of my map lights for the overhead console I installed. I'm 100% capable of removing the console from the car, but it's a real pain in the *** to do solo and would highly prefer avoiding it.
It came out of a 99 or 2000 XJ, it is the style with four independent map lights in which the lens serves as a toggle for the light as well. Does anyone know how to remove these lenses without breaking them? I can see how the mechanism works. There's a pivoting point with plastic nubs on one end, and a push through clip on the other. I can get the clip past the retaining lip, but the lens does not swing down and feels as though the plastic nubs will break with more force. What am I doing wrong? |
Sounds like you are right there....
I just use a flathead screwdriver and press in on the side that has the indentation for your thumb. It will flatten the clip and pop down allowing you room to replace the bulb. Its enough room for just two fingers.... I have a 98.. |
