97' Jeep Cherokee XJ Won't Start
Hey guys new here,
Just bough an XJ a couple weeks back and it has ran fine until yesterday. Changed the engine oil, filter, and transmission fluid Saturday. Drove it around afterwards with no problems. Parked it for the night and went to start it on Sunday and it wouldn't fire, plus none of the dash cluster is working.
I have changed the crank sensor, distributor, plugs, and plug wires.... Kind of at a loss as to what to do next. Not the most knowledgable when it comes to electrical, but something is leading me to think something electrical is causing this. Battery is good and the fuses are good.
Now the fuel pump works but only if I jump the relay slots, the pump won't work if I turn the key to one. Have replaced the relays too!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated!!! Have a 3" lift to put on this thing, but kind of want to get it running first...
Thanks,
David

By "it wouldn't fire" do you mean:
1. It would crank, but not start
or...
2. It would not crank at all
By "crank" I mean that the starter engages and begins spinning the motor. By "start" I mean, ignition occurs and the engine spins on its own power without the starter.

If it wont start and the dash is out as well, sounds like a voltage distribution problem rather than a sensor problem, check wiring, fuses..like Ken said
