97 chrokee sport 4.0L starting/voltage issue
I have a 97 Cherokee sport 4.0L 2wd auto. just replaced the head gasket and coolant system overhaul cause it was overheating, found blown head gasket. but before the tear down I was having a starting issue. put the key in the ignition and turn like im gonna start it and the bastard would drop power to everything. it would do that for 3-6 key turn's and start right up and run like nothing ever happened,.... runs drives a/c works lights dash work everything like its supposed to be. the thing is the day before I tore the engine down for the head gasket the issue persists. so I went ahead and did the repair and now after problem still there. but now working on it today the ignition switch don't do anything, turn the key all you want it nothing. not even the beeping with the key is in the lock and cylinder assembly. done all the basic checks on fuses, also on relays on the passenger side panel and PDC all relays and fuses check out good. anybody with any ideas, the assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Try new battery terminals. I had this issue a couple weeks ago. They're not expensive so its worth a shot. Make sure you cut the old wire if you can so you have some good fresh wire on the new terminals.

appreciate it it chris but had to do that when I got the jeep. battery was crap and so were the terminals.
also turbo the ignition switch not working should've been a sign so I bought one anyways and changed it still nothing when I turn the key

It has got to be an intermittent ground issue, do a search on this forum you will find a thread as to their location. There are 5 or 6 different ones clean them all while you are there to avoid future problems.

ill try that but what do you think about the issue I had before I lost all power to the switch. like when I put the key in it would beep then I turn it and it all at once looses power. but turn the key off and it slowly gets power back and try again it does the same.
