Default 97 Cherokee Downstream O2 Sensor Wiring

The previous owner left me with a little surprise when it came to the 02 Sensor on my XJ. It was spliced with electrical tape and also running a universal sensor. Needless to say I had a code pertaining to my downstream o2 sensor and need some help. Coming from the main harness of my XJ I have a Green W/White, Black, Dark Brown W/Tan, and Dark Brown w/yellow. From my new 02 I have 2 white, 1 black, 1 grey.

I still have a connector that went from the jeeps harness that will connect to the o2 sensor but it must have been cut off another vehicle because the wires are not even close to the same color.

So nobody knows or can just go look under their jeep and check the wiring going into the connector for me?

That o2 sensor should have an online electrical plug attached to a bracket on the oil pan. You should be able to buy a sensor and plug it in. If he cut out that connector as well then I'd recommend heading to your nearest junk yard with a set of wire cutters and a small 1/4" ratchet set.

This is for the downstream, which is near the cat. I have a connector I can use so I can have an OEM attachment, I just need to make sure I have the wires going to the right place.

If it wasn't dark and cold out I would take a pic and post it for you. Let me try in the morning when there is a bit more light out when I head to clinicals.

yeah i have 2 white, 1 black, 1 grey comeing out of the o2 and all the way up to the fuel rail harness with a connector in the middle. A common occurance is the wiring for that o2 sensor gets run the wrong way and ends up melting on the exhaust manifold. someone may have spliced in those odd colors when that happened. i'd pull the whole line out and take some pics, might be able to help more.

So yours doesn't change colors after the connector pretty much right next to the drive line? Your whites black and grey all the way to the ecu? Hmmm. I followed it up past the transfer case and it seems as if it goes into the rest of the stock wiring harness. Guess ill look more.

Thanks for the help anyways man. I went and looked at the upstream 02 sensor and i'm going to land the wires to correspond with the wires on the upstream 02 sensor. The colors for the upstream are the same as the downstream on both my harness and my o2 sensor. difference with the downstream is that previous owned found a 5" pigtail that had competely different colors and then spliced yet another entirely different set of wires to get his length, so actually has 2 splices. Either way, I'm pretty sure I have it handled now.

Yea, can't wait to see what else I find. So far this is the only thing. Missing the flex plate inspection panel as well, and 3 different types of bolts holding the torque converter to the plate, gonna drop tranny and replace flex plate this spring.
