97-01 XJ interior colors. Two different "tan" colors?
 

Was there two different shades of tan for the XJ interior from 97-01?

The plastic bits in my jeep are noticeably darker than another tan interior xj I have owned and all others I have seen?

Mine is darker and almost appears an orangish tan. The 99 I had before was tan but it was much lighter and sandy colored in appearance.

If there are two different shades, what is the name of the darker "orangish" color?

I'm not sure if there is or not but do you think it might be a product that has been used in the past that may have stained the fabric some how?

Its not the fabric. Its the plastic bits. I've been doing some googling and I have found some pics.

Sorry i don't know why I said fabric i knew what you were talking about. Just was a thought I had. I don't know the interiors well enough to give a for sure answer sorry.

The darker organish tan is called "spice"

Does anyone know if spice was a color offered for the XJ interior? Spice is very obviously a color offered in the Wrangler, but I'm not so sure about the XJ. Can't seem to find anything related to spice interior and the XJ. There is definitely two different tan colors that were offered. Anybody have any insight into this?

So if you go to one of the Chrysler websites and look up interior pieces '97 and '98 says Mist Gray and Saddle for the colors. '99-'01 says Agate and Camel.

1997/98 interior was Saddle. 1999 it was Camel. 2000/01 unknown because the parts catalog does not specify.

I have seen many of green 2000 models with camel color parts. However never once seen a 2001 with that color option. Just an interesting observation

I know. Was just posting that to show they do indicate colors for '00 and '01's on a Chrysler website.

Thanks. Kinda glad these interior color postings have come up. Own a '00 with the Camel interior. I have 3 pieces in there that given the chance, assuming I could get them cheap enough, I would replace. Just because. Nothing savage. Barely noticeable. I had read a couple of the earlier years of the newer body style that the color was a little more orange. Figured I would just find a part out on Craigslist and see for myself. These questions made me do the research so now I know I want '99 and up. Turns out Saddle and Camel interiors are not common at all. Have yet to find any. I even have access to 3 boneyards, I work in an auto parts store and deal with the guys down there, and the owners let me go back there and pretty much let me do whatever I want. I make the rounds from time to time to see what is there and have yet to come across a Saddle or Camel interior.
