Are you sure it was originally OBD2 and converted? Early 96's were OBD1 from the factory (if you're drivers door sticker indicates it was made in '95 it could be OBD1)

Going from OBD2 to OBD1 is no small undertaking. Perhaps give us some further information on what was done.

Like firebane mentioned, that's a major undertaking. Do you know why a PO did that? I'm wondering if it's the case where the PO put an older computer in it or something like that.
I'd assume that screwing with the OBD2 system is illegal in most or all states.

If you don't have access to the person who did the change you may be in for a major undertaking of tracing wiring using diagrams from the FSM.

Well idk who did it so that doesn't help but I'm quite sure you don't need to change ecu from what little I found on this but idk what other details would you need?

I was merely speculating about why one would even consider replacing an ODB2 with an ODB1.
If you are certain the ECU is original, then that's a plus.

Details-wise, it would be helpful to know whatever details you know about the modification. Are you certain it was replacing ODB2 with ODB1 or is it just that your ODB2 was hacked and is malfunctioning. What have you found that is modified, does anything work, etc?

Sensors, computers, wiring, etc can all be different.

In MA at least, one of the inspection checks is the ODB2 system and the emissions testing actually hooks into the ODB2 port.

Fortunately for me, my 95 is exempt from emissions testing (I actually think this could be due to not having ODB2..).

Ok I didn't think of that we don't have inspections here.

The 01 is going to have a ton of stuff that won't directly swap out. There was a recent thread re: the fact 01's have a pre-cat exhaust with multiple O2 sensors.
My 95 has a single cat located near the crossmember. You'll need to get an OEM compatible cat (I'd get a "direct fit" since you don't want to screw around in a tough inspection state) which should have a hanger that connects up with the transmission mount.

Is the rest of the exhaust OEM or not? How many O2 sensors does it have currently and where are they?

It has a 02 sensor just below the headers and the 01 only has a extra 02 sensor on the cat do that wouldn't be hard at all
