96' XJS, Fixed the thermostat and now there isn't any acceleration
Howdy all,
First off, i have a 96' Cherokee Sport that until recently was running like a champ. Long story short, i blew the gasket on the thermostat housing a couple weeks ago, and while that in itself was an easy fix (new therm, new gasket) I now have little to no acceleration. Prior to the blown gasket, she was raring to go, i had instant response and could light her up like a torch. (I didn't do it often.) Now however, coming from a dead stop, i can mash the pedal to the floor (And sometimes have to) just to get her up to speed. Since she started doing this, i havn't had her on the highway, but had her up to 55 on a side road. I have to put the hammer down and wait for her to crawl up to speed. when the gasket blew, she did overheat, but not badly. it happened near home and i got her parked before she even had a chance to show any negative symptoms. any suggestions? She has clean oil, trans fluid, radiator fluid (water), I'm great about general maintenance and aside from the bad therm, she was running great. |
Did the electronics under the hood get soaked?

Pretty much everything got soaked. But here's the kicker, my RPM's are great. If i touch the pedal her rpm's shoot right up. Could it be my Power Converter?
