96 XJ Starting/ electrical issues...need help!
 

Hey everyone,

So recently I've been having issues with my 1996 XJ.

A few weeks ago I was driving in the rain and noticed that my windshield wipers wouldn't work, nor did my radio or climate control. It was rectified next time I started the car.

Last night I tried to start my XJ after not driving it for a day or two and it wouldn't start. It cranked as best it could, but was a no go. When they came to jump the car we could get it started, but the second my foot came off the gas it would die. Led me to think the alternator was bad. Jeep towed to a shop and now apparently it's starting up just fine for them. They say my battery and alternator are fine. What gives???

When you jump an xj it tends to want to die for the first few minutes without manual throttle control no idea why but it has been the case with every single Cherokee I have come across. As for thing randomly not working someone else may have an idea what is going on.

Thanks for the insight man... I've noticed that too. My main issue right now is that there's just no reason for it to be dead after being parked for 48 hours.
