Default 96 xj Schematic needed

Hello all, I have a 96 xj that the power windows and door locks are both inoperative. If anyone has the wiring schematic and know the location/ wire color or the ground wires. I have power to the door switch on the tan wire and can hear the door lock/unlock relays click. Im hoping both these circuits have a common ground.thanks for any assistance

Have you looked at the wires in the harness between the door and the body? The rubber pulls out from either side. The wires usually wear. They can be fixed.

Nothing obvious when I removed the kick panel and door Harness boot. I just am unsure of the wiring without a schematic I'll see if the black wire is ground tomorrow. Are the grounds common on the two circuits ?

Thank you for the link but 8p 5 , testing doesn't look even close to my switch connecters.
I'm sure 2000 is a different setup.
Looking at the schematic my colors maybe the same . Do you know where the component locator is for ground g107 ?

Try finding ground G201, located below the headlamp switch. There are several wires grounded there, including the power windows and door locks. All the ground wires are Black.

postaljeep,

You may want to go to Pacific Coast Manuals and download a pdf service manual.

http://www.pacificcoastmanuals.com/j...e_manuals.html

Get the 1995 manual. The 1996 manual is actually a 1997 XJ manual and would be misleading for you. The 1995 will be close to the 1996 XJ.

are all ground wires tied together? or do they actually depend on bolts thru the chassis? most cars have a ground system like the
+12 supply bus.

Now I'm more confused/frustrated than ever. My jeep is a 96 obd2 mfd 1/96 but looking online looks like it has a 95 fuse panel. It's a rhd Japan export model. I found that there are two fuses for the power windows/door locks. The fuses supply power to the switch on the tan and red wire. The ground is good. I got the passenger window to work in reverse switch manor. When I plug the switch connector in to the switches fuse #12 blows. I believe I had the connecter oriented right there is a small notch that lines up with the switch paper and the plugs have notches that match each other. i bought the jeep with the door panel and switch out of it. Freegdr what are you referring to as the test procedure ?

The passenger window works like this but it doesn't seem oriented properly.<br/>With the body connecter unplugged at the kick panel and the ground and powers jumpers to the door Harness I can't get the window motor to work or the door lock. Applying power to the drivers window motor it functions perfectly.
I found this post and my brass plates look correct
